A Lullaby of Death

Sleepy little baby Lying in your crib Sighing in your crib Dying in your crib. Sickly little sweetheart Sinking from my sight Fevered in the night Dreaming of the light. Dying little dear one Face is hot and red Sweating in your bed Crying until dead.

Wow! Spectacular gloom and doom, Jessica. A tragic and eerie lullaby so beautifully expressed! Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Though I post mainly comedic poems at Poetry Soup, my real deal is horror and fantasy and gloom -- those poems get published mainly in small magazines but a couple of 'em have been in Best Of Year anthologies. And they get collected into chapbooks, while Hippocampus Press is planning a big trade paperback of them.

The kind of lullaby that really exist yet seem not to scare the babies they're sung to by sweet mothers' voices, but perhaps helps explain how many of us grow up to be horror fans.
