A Lover's Reply

I have thought about it Without acrimony This censure of our matrimony And I am more sure of it How long ago I fell Deeply in deepest love with you My nerve and every cell Saturated like a night with dew Brings the fragrance of my strength Where even heroes and saints lament Sniff my courage If you cannot measure my love, I Of your faults am not without knowledge But for faults and you I pine and sigh Because my love is true But why, I have no clue.

Honor keeps its place Not where cheap popularity traces foolish causes But where deep committent erase The world's glitch and pauses For the when world falls frail and dead Honor lifts a humble head
