A Lovers Prayer

A candle lit at night shines its light in the darkest hours,
The cry of anguish fills the air competing with the song of nightingales.

On bended knee’s with a picture in his mind
Of what he seeks and needs,
Tears on the floor he asks one not seen.

“Dear lord above bring my love back to me,
Keep her safe and from the arms of others,
Let her know my love is true and lasts forever.”

This he says for his friend and lover,
The one to him who is closer than his brother,
Or sister, father and mother.
