A Love Story

It seemed there was a secret Desperation filled the crowd But the two of them would keep it True love won't speak aloud Most couples spend years Figuring marriage out But the truth fueled her tears As vows escaped her mouth A humble, crumbled sheet survived palms and pockets The map to her heartbeat And knowledge to stop it She unfolded it still Trembling hands and moistened cheeks Jesus took the wheel And caused her voice to speak The poetry that followed Was the icing to their cake The honest words she chose Put dignity at stake But her courageous, faithful leap Landed safe on common ground As his love was just as deep Still, he wouldn't let her drown Each guest received a dose Of joy as refreshment We were honored to be so close If only for a minute
