A Little Gator

I found a little gator
Out behind 11th tee
He is just a little guy
Two-foot something, maybe three
He stays out in the marsh grass
Until I make a splash
Then he comes cruising over
While I make a backward dash
He surely has a mother
So far she hasn’t shown
Or do gators leave their little guys
In these small ponds all alone
The herons all just stand there
As if they have no fear
But I’m sure they keep an eye on him
So he doesn’t get too near
For though he really is small
He still has rows of teeth
And he could do some damage
At least that’s my beliefs
I don’t know his potential
For I haven’t seen his feet
He might grow six foot or seven
If he gets enough to eat
But me, I like them little
My guy is the right size
I could wrestle with this gator
Though it probably isn’t wise
So I think I’ll just observe him
From the safety of this rise
And hope that he can make it
Till he gets a little size

I have fed a few golf balls to gators myself. I find it is easier to replace a Titlest than it is to replace an appendage. Nice poem - finally, I found one with some humor. Thanks for sharing. Joe
