A Litle List
A LITTLE LIST
I went to the grocery store
Taking a short little list,
Only four items were needed,
Hoping there's nothing I’d missed.
This should be just a quick trip,
With such a short list to take,
The few things I needed to buy
Was for a cake I intended to bake.
Once in the store for groceries,
They'd changed everything around,
Flour was always in aisle twelve,
Now in aisle eight it was found.
Sugar for cake, being necessary,
Finally located in aisle fifteen,
Walking down another aisle,
Chocolate was clearly seen.
I couldn’t resist the temptation,
The store had put in my way,
Chocolate was on a great special,
It was all half price on that day.
My little list became larger
With other specials to buy,
Demonstrators were cooking
Some different foods to try.
After two hours of shopping
Thought all on my list, plus more.
The cake I never got to bake,
I forgot to get eggs from the store.
It was only a little list
