A Light in the Eye

The golden rays of the sun,
welcome us to the world of light.

First we learn to walk, then to run,
we learn to shake hands, then to fight.

Then comes forgiveness to be kind,
and to forgive ourselves as well.

For not doing so, you may find,
you create your own private hell.

A whole array of all of your fears,
that you wear like a badge of shame.

The you that you see in mirrors,
the one that is tied to a name.

Trying to honor some vague past,
as well as those with the power.

To come into your own at last,
like the rain that fulfills the flower.

The night that divides love and hate,
and hears every broken heart cry.

It seems that it will be our fate,
to be like the stars that fill the sky!

Hello Meru, Actually I would never write such awful things about your poem. The first two lines are definitely mine. I swear that language and words are not mine. This is an apology as it’s part of my comment. I honestly can’t explain that. You can delete as I am not that kind of an individual. I am so sorry you had to read such upsetting words.

Hello Meru, beautifully said and nicely written. Forgiving oneself is so important as you said , you’re creating your own hell. Have a great day, fellow poet.
