A Lifetime of Memories

Agnes can no longer drive or even walk alone
Her days of youth and health are forever gone
But she can return to those better days at will
As they reside as if alive in her memory still
She can relive being in her own yard to play
It's as real to her as the things from yesterday
Again, on her father's strong shoulders to ride
Then to do small things with her mother inside
Agnes' first day at school is still within her brain
Where her laughing young classmates all remain
The man she met and so joyfully came to wed
Still survives though now for many years dead
The birth of each of her children continues real
Their warm breath on her face she still can feel
Her parents' home she can visit when she wishes
Still to sit on the den sofa and eat from the dishes
As long as Agnes' memories are not taken away
She can always have an exceptionally good day
