A Letter To God

When I was 5 years old I wrote a letter to God 
Asking him to give me wings
Because even though I was young
I didn't think I could get anywhere on my own two feet

When I was 25
I realized that where I wanted to go
And who I wanted to be
That not even wings could take me 
So I asked God for the ability to see

But not with my eyes
With my mind
So that in time I could figure out 
Who I was truly meant to be 

Because at that time
The people around me 
All had an opinion on where I should go 
What I should do 
And who I should be 
And I just wanted to be me 

The older I got 
The more I just wanted to be free
And I found myself
Back where I started 
Asking God to give me wings
