A Lethality of Love

I kissed the rain to catch your tears,
a lonely ghost upon the street.
I traded all my forgotten fears
to feel the burn of an unlikely meet.

You saw me stumble into the blight;
to blinding fields where spirits run.
I stood there frozen in the light,
Forever spellbound by sun.

Hold me close when shadows grow;
as darkness always bends or strains.
To share the only sky you know,
Oh, to be your Moon, must I wane?

Don’t bother looking under your bed
for that monster you’ll never find.
I am a dangerous dream, you said.
Cause the monster lives in your head.

I love a dark poem always, and I love the cadence and rhythmic flow of your word weaving here. Especially love "I am a dangerous dream, you said. Cause the monster lives in your head." Thats what just made this a winner in my eyes and heart! How soul hitting and the psychological nature of it as well as the vulnerability and angst that emanate from your lines, made me feel for the voice of this poem, strongly! I feel for the ones who struggle emotionally. "Hold me close when shadows grow" Congratulations on your first place win! Thank you for supporting my contest! Sending you light always

I appreciate your very kind and generous commentary on my poem. I love writing 'darker' pieces and this was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed your contest! Blessings of love and light to you, always!
