A House On Fire
I loved you but the blaze was destructive
I had to always fight through the fiery furnace of feelings
Always grasping for something stable to find nothing
but smoke surrounding me
Sparks flying, burning, devouring my senses.
Vision clouded, throat burning I slowly sink to the floor
And finally I sit with my pain and let it burn like a flame,
It flickers for a while but won’t ever go out,
This agony is constant and cruel; my body and soul it claims.
They tell me time heals but still-I don’t think il ever quite be the same.
