A Horizontal Hourglass
I’m riding the surf
Of seeds of infinite yield
A new season’s birth
I’m rooted to fertile fields
I’m thankful for the lies
On broken pieces of glass
They’ve made me wise
Like a horizontal hourglass
The grains fill the air
Time standstill for my next step
Was blind, but all is clear
Through life’s doorstep
You called it tough love
Your fears of upper class
Opened my squinted eyes
Mowed down the tall grass
Hell is other people
Angels and demons otherwise
Emotionally distant and feeble
Saw me only through my dress
My move...checkmate!
Cornered by the black queen
I’m not your soul mate
My heart you could never win
I’m thankful for the lies
On broken pieces of glass
They’ve made me wise
Like a horizontal hourglass
