A Holiday for the Lonely

What is a holiday for the ones who have none
No one to belong to, no specialities to be done
When the feelings of festivity fall flat on the ground
When on the inside there's not a single sound

What are these celebrations but another day in time?
What do they mean if you don't spend a dime?
Are they simply reminders of what you have not?
While seeing the others who have a lot?

A holiday for the lonely, is simply unfair
There will be no yuletide cheer filling the air
No love to be shared because no one is around
To a life of sadness my heart feels bound

So when it becomes again this time of year
The most I will do to celebrate is shed a solemn tear
Remember the time back when I was loved
Memories that turned sour, once beloved
