A Historic Event

Unknown to them their universe was shrinking It was bitterly cold as most lay asleep, None of them dreamt their ship was sinking None of them dreamt of facing the deep, Yet there it was, that colossus of doom A meeting with fate they were sailing toward, The freezing Atlantic would claim them all soon But so far early morn... 'twas all quiet on board. Based on the sinking of RMS Titanic Which sank in the early hours of April 15th 1912, claiming 1517 lives. Entry for A Historic Event Poetry Contest Sponsored by William Kekaula. 18/9/2020. Placed=1st.

So many lost, but, thankfully, some saved like Molly Brown. We just never know. You have captured that sense of foreboding in your succinct lines. Congratulations on your first place win!

A succinct hammering of words you have depicted, Gary, a poignant truth you have concluded, forlorn undertones overall, blessings my friend on your honorable placement, Aloha! William
