A Heart Inscribed
Here I am and there you are
I'm etched on your life like a permanent scar
In the shape of a rose or a heart or a feather
I.m there in the blood,we are always together
A tattoo from youth, worn under your sleeve
reminding you ever of reasons to grieve
read green and black, like the coils of a beast
wrapped round your heart, there thru famine or feast
Indelible days into firebranded nights,
written in memories, seared in your sights
but if lasers could peel off the imprint I've left
my own selfish wishes would leave me bereft
for I need to know I live on in your heart
that not even dying can keep us apart.
