A Heart Full of Memories
A HEART FULL OF MEMORIES
My heart is full of memories of all the years with you,
And now that you are leaving here, this I just had to do:
I had to thank you for the smile that greeted me each day
And how your oft encouragement helped me in many ways.
I had to think of all the laughs and jokes we often shared,
And how you reached out many times to show me that you cared.
I had to think of all the days we worked on the same team
And how you’d share your many plans and all your future dreams.
I had to think of when I walked through the shadow of a loss
How your prayers and your sympathy helped me to bear that cross.
I had to think of your hard work in every daily task
Was such a help to all of us as we worked at DFAS!
Oh, yes, I’ll miss you, but I now it will be just a while
Until I see your face again and you greet me with that smile.
Then I won’t need encouragement nor will I need your prayer,
For we will dwell eternally in God’s home bright and fair.
We’ll laugh together and rejoice forever in the sky,
And no more will we suffer loss and no more will we cry.
My prayers go with you and your mate as you now move away
With a heart full of memories to brighten now my day.
May God go with the two of you until we meet again
And share again these memories in the land that’s free from sin.
--Dedicated to Sharon Liles on her retirement from DFAS.
