Notes About The Poem

Written 21st July,  2026  for THROUGH AESTHETICA Poetry Contest sponsored by Nette Onclaud - unfortunately I forgot to actually enter.

A Gypsy Dance

Silk twirls come alive beneath the moonlit sky,
Violins awaken old stories with their cry,

Silver bangles jangle, flashing all around,
Laughter rises, circling the heated ground,

Bare feet blur and leap beside the firelight,
Wandering drums keep the beat just right,

Each turn becomes a timeless romance,
Now time itself has become the dance.

Pretty good poem here Alison, its a Much romanticsized theme, the Spanish flamenco is of Gypsy origen And of current incumbancy really' i would guess there is much of it in Eastern Europe in differing styles i wonder where it really began? Its commonly beleived India..Yet that cannot be the stem. As the Kubli Kahn Was an offshoot of the original nomadic seed in Mongolia which ties in the Eskimo and American Indian all Nomadic peoples ( the yurt and teepe?) The word papose for child in indian..The word paposa in Gypsy for dolly.? So there must be a dance culture in Mongolia.' I'll check later on the web and see.)

All good Alison but the origin of those Punjab and Rajistan people Is from Mongolia ( so Ghengis Khan was a Gypsy in essence ')is what i get at here.. i had this discussion with Gyptologist Dr Donald Kendrick, who taught the theisis you most likely quote? On my evidence he said, I stand corrected.' My evidence being among my own experiences a blood test record from a friend o f Mine done in Melbourne in the 1970s.) I presented my initial questio To him by asking which precise village They started out from he could not answer.. Apart from stating the appeared as a warrior group travelling On the borders of India..Only then did i go deeper.) Dr Kendrick was a great scholar and profound gentleman I must add.'

Now dear Joe you educate me even more. The term "Gypsy" traditionally refers to the Romani people, an ethnolinguistic group that originated in the Punjab and Rajasthan regions of northwestern.Flamenco dancing originated in the Andalusia region of southern Spain between the 15th and 18th centuries. It emerged from marginalized communities as a fusion of Romani (Gitano), Moorish, Sephardic Jewish, and indigenous Andalusian cultures, serving as an emotional outlet for hardship and persecution. There you go some research for you.
