A Guiding Hand.
I am standing at an intersection
confused...bewildered
three roads lead in different directions
which one to take is my dilemma
Then a reassuring grasp as
someone takes my hand
and gently leads me on.
The middle road is the one we'll take
says a kindly voice... but still I hesitate.
Hand in hand..... along the narrow path we trod
many a time I stumbled...many a time I slipped
Exhausted and discouraged....so many tears I shed
but that gentle hand just kept me in good stead..
Cliffs on either side welcomed me nigh
jagged rocks attempted to stab my sides
fog blurred my vision from time to time
but that gentle hand kept me toe-ing the line
So many times I fell to my knees
aches and pains making me weak
but again and again that gentle hand
picked me up...brushed me off
giving my hand an encouraging squeeze.
We must go on... we're almost there
I'll never give you more than you can bear.
Rest at last.........to the ground I fall
while the hand prepared a bed
of scented leaves and untrodden soil
and bathed my feet in the river nigh
what a wonderful feeling I had inside.
As I lay on the crest of a comforting breast
Rest,a soft whisper says...this is only a test.
I will stay beside you...I know what is best
I'll comfort you ........know that you are blessed.
We'll complete this journey when the time is right
for the end of this road is not yet in sight.
