A God In Control
A GOD IN CONTROL
What if God looked down from heaven
With His great, omniscient eyes,
Saw some things that just had happened
That took Him by great surprise?
What if God saw all the evil
Present in man’s inner soul
And would think with great frustration
How it was beyond control?
What if some late-breaking story
From the news wires broadcast loud
Said that something had just happened
That God hadn’t then allowed?
We may not have all the answers
And think it is so unfair;
We may say, “That wouldn’t happen
If God really had been there!”
Yes, it seems so inconsistent
To think God, so wise, so great
Would allow what seems against Him--
Evil, trials, violence, hate.
But we should stop to consider
What if God just did not know?
What if He was now bewildered
By all the ways these things do go?
How could man have any comfort,
Any hope for life today
If God did not have the answer,
If He did not know the way?
Who else, then, could be so trusted?
Who else living in this world
Could we turn to in life’s troubles
When its darts at us are hurled?
No, we must believe God’s power,
Though we may not understand,
That no matter what may happen,
Somehow it fits in His plan.
So, though I may face some trials,
Some experience I may dread,
Lord, help me Your will to trust in,
And consider my will dead.
That’s not easy, Lord, I know it,
Yet from deep now in my soul,
I want to accept Your planning
Since You’re the God who’s in control.
