A Ghosts Dream

The slow haunting music fills the room, As the ghosts of times past, sway in peace. A euphoria begins to bloom, Though death was only a partial release. The soulful tune reflects the night sky. The moon glimmers in the loving tune. There’s never time for goodbye, Just an “I’ll see you soon”. Every night the lovers take the floor, Hand in hand, cheek to cheek. Everything just like before, Hushed vows begin to speak. One living soul amongst the ghosts. A curly headed angel, looks past the crowd. An awkward wraith who loves her the most, Makes his way through the shroud. It’s been too long for his hallow eyes, But he recognizes the dimpled smile. As she catches sight and begins to rise, She agrees it’s been a while. Years have passed since the last embrace, Since his death took him away from her. But he’s always treasured that face, Masked with a love shining so sure. He whispers in her ear, “Darling, I’ve missed you so.” They sway as she wipes away his tear, And replies, “Oh babe, I know.” The time spent away, He’s reflected on mistakes. He’s better than okay, If from this dream he never wakes. Her slender fingers interlock with his own, A pulse of the heart strikes like thunder. She’s the only love he’s truly known, Yet she’s truly his beautiful wonder. The clock strikes two in the morning, His mind tired and regresses to broken. He ignored the subtle warning, Now left wishing he’d never spoken. A memory of passion and true loves wishes, She kneels at his grave, and his coffin she kisses.
