A Gentle Form

Take care to linger on a verse
    one could do worse

Emerging from a raging storm
    a gentle form

Refined by trials, troubles, strife
    soon coaxed to life

With edits deft, a surgeon's knife
    placed delicately in the palm
    salvific rub, a soothing balm
One could do worse, a gentle form soon coaxed to life

Good one, Jeff. The form is totally new to me, but you have done a splendid job with it. I will try it one of these days.

I love all these different types. Who knew there was more to poetry than sonnets, limericks, and free verse a year ago? lol, thanks, Heidi!

Thanks, Michael, yes, I was struck by the interplay of the lines of this one, and I am going to have to continue to play with it.
