A Gaunt Face

A gaunt face
       wizened by time,
           portrays
              a no-nonsense
                 man of convictions,
                   poor, yet proud
                    of his
                    heritage.
                    And yet,
                   beneath that
                 roughshod look
              I glimpse a kind heart
           and soul, suggesting he’s
      more
human than he seems.
