A Future Untold

I often hear many of those speak of what is to come
Trying to predict an unforeseen future too far from
Sometimes even forgetting these days of the present
Holding back the fond memories of past years spent

Of poor health these dreary minds struggle to cling
To coming days still so unclear, what will life bring?
A life I wish not to lead in a world as gloomy as this
Day by day is my pace, sifting for moments of bliss

I wake each morning with the same hopes as the last
To end my day smiling; grateful to label as my past
With a hope that tomorrow will follow with a laugh
Keeping hold of me; known and loved as my better half

Each day that passes is another stone I turn with pride
A clean slate I start with, using the last day as a guide
Not knowing what my future holds, I wait in serenity
For a time of potential, one of a long waited amenity

Embrace life for what it’s worth, many paths lie ahead
The future is whatever you make it, the wise once said
Build a foundation with the time you are granted today
And a kingdom will rise; no longer leaving you astray
