A Friend Indeed

hear me as i speak.
let your nerve accelerate the echo of my voice.
under the mighty power of your glory our strength is laid,
that we are handicap of your vice.

could the law be wrong that in you our security do pick?
twenty naira in the past and now fifty naira that checkpoint a slaughter household.
in fear we give to Cesar what is not of Cesar.
no choice in our strength than celebrate your wonder.
though you listen not the cry of the blood before it is laid to the earth,
while the innocents the victims of the court,
yet we call you our friend.
i pray, you be a friend indeed.
