A Friend

A helping hand when hands are tied A tissue given when tears are cried A smile when others at you frown A pick-me-up when you are down A song of praise for spirits low A companion when the going’s slow A picked up check when debts are high An unwillingness to say good-bye An ear to hear you moan and whine A forgiveness for your waste of time A withheld judgment while others stone An every time answerer of the phone The person to stick with you to these ends Is the person that you can truly call a friend Written and posted on 4/19/13 for the "What a friend really is" contest.
