A Fox Was a Kit

A fox was a kit and a dog was once a puppy.
Don’t throw a fit, but a fish was never a guppy.
A horse was a colt. And a hen was always a chick.
How about banana split’s scoop, could we call it a lick?

A butterfly was a caterpillar,
A green spotted frog was a polliwog.
A child was a well-loved neonate,
Piglet was once the name of a giant hog.

Fawn instantly tells you something of his age,
Pony is not an indicator at all.
Lamb gives you a wonderful clue so sage.
Animals are delightful to me, big and small.

Thank you Laura. It was one of my "play with words and have fun" kind of poems.

Every animal gives us a message if we care to hear. Cute poem Caren.

Thank you Pixie. I never met an animal that I did not like except a wood tick. I have no love for them.

Enjoyed the round robin of wildlife and the way you managed a banana split in the thick of it with a lick-itty lick! ;)

Thank you Bette. I love trees, animals and children the best; they uplift me and help me write poetry.

I like this one, I wonder where a Murder of Crows fits in.

The word "murder" stopped me, as I saw this one as one for children, and that word scares me, let alone them, Timothy.
