A Forgotten Love
Though we had troubles
Both thick and thin,
Time healed the wounds which once cut deep;
The pain became a forgotten sin.
My love will soon return,
My soft caress he will await
How can our love be questioned,
For isn't true love fate?
But alas my love comes near,
As hollow as the soul of an echo
His eyes once alert and aware
Scream bloodcurdling cries of sorrow
His eyes meet mine
Wide and empty as can be
My love I know by the inside only,
But does my love know me?
His words speak of love
But his mind thinks of another
His heart which belonged to me
Now belongs to someone other
Does his heart not remember,
The turtle doves that flew?
Does his mind convince him otherwise
And cause his thoughts to go askew?
The forgotten story now lies in his mind,
And the knowledge lies in mine.
The future is unknown,
And the past is left behind...
