Following idols causes you to forfeit God's mercy (Jonah 2:8). The "Eagle" led me into dangerous terrritory, like swimming alongside a sea turtle that's leading you into the "shark hole."
Oftentimes before I saw him
Silhouetted in clear blue cold
Slowly but surely moving onward
Hellkite to those who might hold
Sometimes he cried-oftentimes not
For sadness was in his flight
He cleared the snow-capped mounts
And in seconds was out of sight
I wondered at what he might find
Or if he was looking at all
For there is meaning in his name
And he answers a different call
Surely his eyes are very sharp
Yet, I doubt he ever sees
The paths that others show to him
His path is like the breeze
Throughout the years grew alliance
Between the eagle and I
His cry I answer always
Never stopping to say goodbye
And in my mind he cries once more
And though you are in my heart
I fear it will not last-you see
I was his from the very start
