A Fool You Are

You never see through these fake smiles, I’ve hidden here so well those laughs you always enjoyed hearing, they were so easy to sell Breathe your life into me some more; we all know why you do so You could never handle it on your own; you’ve sunken to my low In your embraces, be gentle with me, no need for this shell to crack Fool yourself into believing in me, I know my heart is full of black You may not agree to my vision, how could you when you’re blind The skies are gray, the trees are dead, no winds to soothe my mind My body breaks down each day, muscles sore and bones that pop A harvester of sorrow I have become, with an endless field to crop With every seed you plant in me brings one more reason to hate The methods you take I can never understand, but now it’s too late You’ve created a darker side of me that you can never understand Looking back is an option no more; a line drawn deep in the sand One look within you brings those memories, ones fond they are not Killing me inside you have tried, but you took your final long shot One day you will realize your doings, how you lost something pure With darker days ahead of us, time will no longer be your petty cure When the sun goes down, nightmares break free from their slumber Peace too far to grasp, your mistakes will be a mass you must lumber
