A Flower's Sacrifice
Silken petals caress the sighing wind,
as they glide to the cold ground.
Human fingers pinch the frail flowers,
whispering the pledge of a love found.
Flavored lips repeat the musical words
spun by childhood's innocent belief.
The gentle plant's undeserved haircut
soothes a dreamer's blossoming grief.
A broken life is heartlessly discarded,
now that its silken head is bare.
Human hands snap its helpless neighbor,
ignoring the broken stem's accusing stare.
The soft sound of human love
whispers to each sweet smelling head.
A mute flower's sacrifice is often forgotten
when the human leaves nature's flower bed.
