A Flicker of Hope

A flicker of hope is all I had
I cling to this faith and ideals in a world that has gone mad
It changes around me with each passing day
I can't stop it though I search to find a way
Where is the path that was once for me
My childhood youth faded and no I long see to my destiny
The candle once held so much promise and light
Now it's glow is almost out of sight
How I long to see that flame again
Welcoming me like a long lost friend
So I sit and wait patiently
For the day when that flame will come back to me
