A Flash of Life
A Flash of Life
If today on this earth came my last final breath
and a flash was delivered, of my life before death.
What memories would I see and what sounds would I hear?
Would they be when I smiled, or when I cried out in fear?
I guess I might see some snow on the ground,
or even a tree with lights strung all around.
Maybe back to first grade and think life was unfair.
My first day of school without my dear mother there.
Maybe I would see my first day on the farm,
when I got lost in the woods and Dad saved me from harm.
I hope I could hear the birds sing in the sky,
but not when my dad cried, when he watched his wife die.
I’d have to watch Mom and Dad, suffer from cancer once more.
That time I cussed at Mom, then saw Dad from the floor.
I guess I’d hope for a flash that would keep my eyes dry.
I have so many memories that would just make me cry.
