A Family Gathering

He raised his hand toward heaven
And made a single finger sign
Shouting to my passing car
Stick it where the sun don’t shine

Now I’m not one to let things go
So I replied in turn
Then got back to the road ahead
Which was my main concern

I hate these hours of long, long drives
When roads are packed and slow
Still the weather could be worse
At least we haven’t gotten snow

But when this ride is over
And I pull into the drive
I know that just beyond the door
There’ll be some love inside
