Notes About The Poem

A Falling Star

If you've ever seen a shooting star
 Fly across the sky
An incandescent flash of light
It makes you wonder why

If such things are nature's way
Of telling what will be
Give me a chance to make a wish
Then I'll just wait and see

I know it is a legend
That good fortune will befall
Those folks that see a falling star
Could it happen to them all

Or do the ones that get the gift
Make all the commotion
Enough that for the rest of us
Leaves no other notion

Now I believe in legends
They have to start somehow
When I see one streak across the sky
Could it be my turn now
