A Dream House

A Dream Home

By Elton Camp

When it’s a homeless man you see
Likely he wants a life like you & me

None sane will you ever meet
Who enjoys living on the street

He dreams of a comfortable home
From place-to-place not to roam

Perhaps to have a loving wife
To be free from such awful strife

Regularly to enjoy a hot meal
Never have to beg or to steal

To hold a job with self respect
Living a normal life to expect

Not see people react with surprise
With disgust to divert their eyes

We shouldn’t view him with disdain
As if homeless he prefers to remain

I am thankful when such I see
For how easily that could be me
