A Dream Come True

I used to dream of you when I was very little This dream I held in my hand so carefully for it was very brittle. Every night I made a wish on that bright star The one that stood out from all the rest and didn’t seem so far. I dreamt of the love you give to me and held it close to my heart For I was very scared that it would get torn apart. I danced in the warmth of your love shining down I danced forever ‘round and ‘round. I sat in your lap so carefully I looked up at your face framed so beautifully. You smiled at me and I smiled back Your love surrounded me like a planned attack. As I sit in your lap, my eyes start to close Trying to stay in this dream where no one knows. Last night I looked up at the starts once more But I didn’t dream like I did before. Then you came in and smiled at me Tucked me in and left silently. As I fell asleep, I didn’t dream like before For my dream came true so I dream no more.
