A Dream

I've always dreamt of tiny fists
curled 'round my finger tight
and wished to hold a tiny life
so precious in my sight

To feel the softness of the skin
a small mouth at my breast
drink in the sound of giggling
the feel of being blessed

To rock and coo and stroke a head
as eyes drift off to sleep
to tuck away the memory
a lifetime for to keep

Inhale the scent of innocence
embrace it for a while
savor the taste of a toothless grin
and linger in beguiled

To feel the peace and gaze into
those sparkling eyes and see
the tiny little miracle
that grew inside of me

I see, I feel, I taste it all
tangible as can be
though hopes and prayers still go unheard
All I can do is dream.

Wow! I'm in love with this one. The word play go hand in hand with the content

Ahw! You are a loving mother and hope you don't fall into the pitfalls of stressful motherhood! Enjoy every moment with your child.

Aw, such a beautiful dream to have. With all the love and yearning that flows through in this poem, there is no doubt this dream will most certainly come true. I am actually longing for the same thing, only in the form of a grandchild. : ) Can't wait. So, in a way, I'm dreamin for the same thing. (sort of) Good luck! Love, Shar
