A Dread Has Come Creeping

Upon me now, a dread has come creeping. Dreamless, I’m lying awake in my bed. Into my very bones it is sinking. Upon me now, a dread has come creeping. If I only could, I should be weeping, But I arise to write this poem instead. Upon me now, a dread has come creeping. Dreamless, I’m lying awake in bed. Motif: Gothic Written by Andrea Dietrich *Written a while back when I had some stress in my life. Now using it for the short poem contest part III of Giorgio A.V.

To live without stress would be great. I love the poem though. thank you for reading "You" was trying to write haiku. Debbie Guzzi says it's hard to learn, which I have found out. Maybe I'll post more all the ones I wrote to see what people say,,, have a blessed day Andrea

Your muse woke you up so you could capture these poems on paper. That is awesome. The stress! Well I hope you can resolve what's stressing you. You are on a roll with these lovely poems. Hope you don't lose anymore sleep though.

Had many such dreams, Andie..wouldn't call them nightmares...just 'uncomfortable dreams', the kind that when you wake up you say 'whew!...just a dream!'...Well done my poetry pal!...Limerick lass, maybe?, Haiku honey?.. Sonnet sweetheart?...I could go on and on...

I guess you mean some nameless terror that comes before a dream. Hope you can overcome your stressful situation. You realize that all the other "soupers" have best wishes for you in the New Year. Peace & Blessings Matthew Anish

Identify the creepy creature and go and see a double feature. Escape into some other world. And watch as stress becomes unfurled. Tomorrow never goes away. That's why at night we kneel and pray. HAPPY NEW YEARS! :) Hoping you have luck and love to stave the stress.

Andrea, thanks for stopping by.....I hear birds chirping this am outside my condo....and it's 1 degree out! Truthfully, it's only one family of birds....American Thrush (Robins) they grow a down layer in winter and swell half again their size! You will survive like the Thrushes! Focus on love you can share TODAY...jimbo

A beautiful poem my dear Andrea. You've expressed it well and I agree to what Sara said. I feel the same thing and I wish I could express it well like you. Enjoyed your poem. I'll come back and read more of yours later. God bless us always! love/hugs, Leonora

Stress can bring out some good works..Enjoyed reading..I am awaken some nights with something that is not pleasant and can't go back to sleep and it is not a good feeling..Not happening now as much as it was a couple of years ago..Keep writing and that seems to help..It hardly seemed like a triolet for it had good flow..Sara
