A Downward Spiral

It started

      gradually.

         One drink

            turns into two.

        An alcoholic

    on the mend

falls off

  the wagon;

       lulled by

           temptation

      bit by bit.

 It's a slow descent

      into catastrophe.

         A

          steep downward spiral.
