A Dinning Room Window
Through a dining room window in the house
I meet various friends on daily basis
Their entertaining spirit is huge
The joy they give to me is plentiful
All I do is, offer them some seeds
Paying numerous morning and evening visits
They amuse me showing their characteristics
Wearing its tiny gray crest an Oak Titmouse tweets, pecks on seeds and leaves
Pairs of chatty House Finches fly in showing distinguishing red colored markings
Attractive bluish-gray colored Nuthatches call loudly from the nearby oak trees
Fodder on the scattered seeds using their fairly long beaks
A fascinating Acorn Woodpecker with its raucous squawks
Shows up displaying its pretty red cap and black back
A Humming bird with its bright pink shiny head
Flutters in the air looking for a juicy flowerbed
Flashy Scrub Jays take daring flights around the seed tray
Take time to peck on them after chasing the little birds away
Brown Towhees show manners in waiting for their turn
Feed on the seeds quietly after a long wait with patience
A Black Headed Grosbeak visits sometimes showing its feathers of cinnamon orange color
Eats the seeds with its very large triangular beak and quickly disappears
Red and Gray colored squirrels are the regulars at the bird-feed
Play a game of ‘Hide and Seek’ with each other while munching on the seeds
They all vanish before nightfall with a known promise
Of returning in mornings to chomp on their favorite treats
