A Different Kind of Fairytale

Once upon a time, not so long ago
Lived a prince and princess as I was told.
In a castle so high with servants all around.
Seeing to their needs before their feet touched the ground

For many it would be a dream come true.
Having everything u want all brand new. .
No worries or problems in their way.
Both just living in paradise everyday.

But that was just a façade they put on.
For the people they party with till dawn.
Deep inside something was amiss.
No hugs, or love just a single kiss.

What brought these two together u might ask?
Lust, partying, riches and some fake masks
Things would be different should they start to care for each other.
Been called the perfect husband and wife instead of two lovers.

Somehow they seem to be abit superior.
When actually they’re just insincere.
Blinded and ignoring the realities in life.
And continue to live each day in strife.

But not so far away a different story is told.
Of two ordinary people, no riches or gold.
Simple as they maybe, they lived their life.
Happy as can be and just called husband and wife. .

No meddling or fighting in-between
No friends or family that would intervene
Just a place filled with smiles and laughter aloud
for many it would have been they’re on the 9th cloud,

Their love for each other was so unreal.
They didn’t have to fake around a family meal.
Just two simple people with a lot of caring.
Giving a lot more and always sharing.

Many would want a life of a prince and princess.
Thinking of just money and wanting the best.
Selfish n inconsiderate is what they soon become.
Losing all respect and beginning to act dumb

Then there’s just a few totally different to the one above.
Spreading joy and smiles around and filled with love.
Down to earth and wise, both male and female.
This is no wish of mine, just a different fairytale

Dear Sasha, yes, love is simple if it is true love then doesn't need any material things. When it starts asking for riches then love gets poorer and poorer! Your poem, a lesson on love that I loved it! Excellent work , thank you!

What a uniquely told story... I love it. Your point is made stronger by contrast of the two completely different relationships. The ending caught me off guard... I was thinking you were leaning more toward the "ordinary" couple. Just telling how you see it... not necessarily wishing to follow either path. I like that.
