A Deep Look Into Poetry

Sometimes, I am given to wonder, why poetry
and stark reality must be torn so asunder?

Why the huge stress on a new babies cheeks?
When governments worldwide totally reek?

Why is winter weather or a flower so adored?
While all nations have food shortages that are
woefully ignored!

This is in in no way a denial that wonderful
things do exist!
Nor do I encourage writing a poem, with the shades of Oliver Twist!

Poems that have but a hint of how we actually are?
End up unread, and as unknown, as the planet Mars!

Short, and meaningless, oh yes, these are ogled and read like crazy.
Poetry that requires a pinch of thought, ends up, pushing up daisies!

At least, if we can push up daisies, we'll be getting great exercise! ~ What to look forward to! :) gw

- Excellently written my friend ... a small consolation ... there are many writers who didn't become famous until after their death ... there is always hope, Pangie :) - hugs

You kill me Anne Nicole! Even if I died tonight, I would be unread. My poetry is not take out style. It’s not that long or difficult,But as I told Darlene…are we so afraid to write about angst in the world? I think so. We equate poetry with pretty only?? I try humor and fall on my face. My desire to expose the truth of our shared humanity fearlessly, and to heck with being popular , does that make any sense? Hugs, Pangie

Hello Panagiota, There are many poems that are unread. Or with just one or no comments. Yet they keep on trying until a comment does come their way. Hugs. Darlene /xxx

Hello Panagiota, yes it takes hard work to do a great poem. You know as i create my own poem i do change a few words here and there. Even when I am posting a poem. Yes some of the people here think a sentence is a poem. they have to learn hiw to do a poem. Hugs. xxx Darlene ///////////because they are new at it.

Darlene, I don’t write to please. Nor collect comments like pretty butterflies. The issue is people are starving and it’s a secret? Dishonesty is rampant. Where are peoples heads at? We are not in second grade. I am critical of my own poems, you bet. I just want to be better for heavens sake, never famous. I know when a poem needs more work. But I am not here for votes. Writing poems of meaning, yes. I am hard on myself. People comment because they want to be read. And there are others who really do like our poems…I just want some real poetry. Sentences alone are not poetry to me. It takes soul. Really hard to explain.sorry..Pangie
