A Day Without You

Your face beckons me in my sleep. Like a mirage of passion from last noon’s love. I reach out to touch you, in dreams divine. Emptiness all around, wiping traces of you. Dreaminess clouds images of you and me from last night. Fading pictures of our love float around. The eerie silence deafening, gets louder as I look for you. Grief-stricken I go weak, waiting to hear familiar footsteps. You call out to me from unfathomable distance. Or, is it the goodbye you told me when I was asleep. I wake up with a start, reeling under the nightmare. Now I think what do I do even for a day without you.
