A Daughters Poem

A daughters poem.

I heard sobbing from the room down the hall that was my daughters.

The door was half way open and her music was on low, her walls were pink with pictures of her best friends taped to the mirror of her dresser.

Her hands covered her face and were covered with sobbing. I sat next to her slowly and put my arm over her shoulder, “whats wrong sweetie?” I asked her.

She slowly opened her eyes from her hands and looked at me with a sad face that only a father could understand, “my boyfriend broke up with me.” She said

“Oh sweetie I’m so sorry” I held my daughter close to me, and as i leaned my head against her shoulder she looked up at me and said “how come he doesn’t love me daddy?”

Her question gave me painful goosebumps and as I held her tightly against me i thought who could not love my baby girl the way I do?

We hurt when our children hurt. Sometimes, all we can do is be there for them. Maybe that's their greatest need of the moment. A good dad was there for her.

Aww what a precious but heartbreaking moment to share with your daughter - I guess sometimes there simple isn't an answer to a question - he simply wasn't the right guy:-) Hugs Jan xxx 7 xxx
