well, methinks you have gotten a pretty dang good haiku here, whether it is traditional or not. It might even be more modern than you think!!

Okay by me..Reads like a winner for the contest..Thanks for stopping by..Yes, Sardis was a real church..Sardis was a town in Asia Minor or around Greece..I had added a picture of the ruins in the area "About This Poem"....Sara

oh the adder has me on the run Jack.. a brilliant description and perfect entry for the new contest luv.. good luck.. a great blog today as well.. I have noticed my points for contest wins are not calculated correctly at the moment and TPS said some sponsors may be deleting their contests.. did u notice that in your wins column? luv..
