A Dad's Resolve

“When I grow up”
The youngster said,
“I want to be
Just like Dad.”

When Dad heard this,
His mind was glad.
At the same time though,
His heart was sad.

The joy within
His feeble mind,
Changed quickly to thoughts
Of a different kind.

“I guess it is time,”
He said to himself,
“To put some things
On a far away shelf.”

by: Dr. Jim Martin

“If he is to be
Just like me,
Then I from vice
Must be set free.”

“As he observes
The life I live,
All things decent
To him I will give!”
