A Cruel Way to Die
An eye for an eye, this is what he hears
An eye for an eye, this is the penalty that he bears
There was no way he could escape it even though
He denies it the murderer’s voice kept ringing
In his ears and he carries this sorrow for twenty three years
She could not bear to look at his face or even hear his name
A love that has turned violent and disturbed the human race
Took her parents life before their appointed time
And forced her to run for her life or she too would have
Paid the bounty sacrifice but mercy was in her favor when
She escaped from his side or she too would have died
An eye for an eye his days were numbered,
An eye for an eye his hour was getting closer
His quest for clemency was thrown out the door
And the Pope could not save his soul
Murder! the voice kept shouting above his head
Murderer! In hell you shall dwell!
He turned around to see who was there
But no one was there except the voices in his head
And the firing squad marching towards him
The end was coming soon and he made the
Last push to escape from the prison of doom
The firing squad lined out before him
And bullets rained in his chest and voice
In his head was silent blood soaked the bed
And the doctor pronounced him dead
What a cruel way to die, when all hopes
Are wrapped up in the skies,
When a cruel way to die when the law
Has not given him a Bligh,
When a sword for a sword is thrown out
The door, the death penalty will be no more
What a cruel way to die!
