A Cowboy Poem
I was riding on the range
And I was feeling pretty good.
All the cattle were behaving;
They were running like they
should.
The sun was just a-setting
In a blaze of orange and red.
And my dog was acting frisky
Like a pup that’s been well fed.
I had planned to build a campfire,
So I chopped myself some wood.
Then I cooked my steak and beans
And I can tell you they were good.
I pulled off my leather boots
You know the ones you buy in
town.
I took out my heavy blanket
And prepared to settle down.
With the stars shining so bright,
It’s the message of the heavenly light.
Shinning down on my face.
Telling me everything will be alright.
I shut my eyes to sleep.
Dreaming away the rest of my week.
