A Contented Life

I've been rockin' all night long
Looking out across my land
Well the barn is peeling paint
But it's built by my own hand

Now my children are grown and gone
And my woman she rests on the hill
But this old dog at my feet
He's faithful to me still

So I might be a snow-topped mountain
I might be a drybed creek
But I've lived a life of contentment
Got no vision left to seek

Well I have a friend by the reservoir
And sometimes he'll come 'round the bend
We'll have us a chew and some talkin'
Or sit quiet and watch the day end

Yes we know that our time is a comin'
But that don't put a chill in the day
Cos' we've lived a lifetime in these mountains
Knowing heaven's just one step away

And I might be a snow-topped mountain
My face is weathered and creased
But my heart will always be here in these hills
When my time on this earth it has ceased

Yes I might be a snow-topped mountain
I might be a drybed creek
But I've lived a life of contentment
Got no vision left to seek
