A Consumptive's Guide
I see that things are changing; and plus that fact I'm told, everything
That once we knew was a waste, of our time, and effort and soul.
They chant about new freedom on TV, and the net;
As young and old sadly Sleep out now in doorways wet;
Students do diagnose by phone without degree.
Self-expression is the Holy Grail
Its every whim a goal: yet before
We can desire of what it is we we need we must be told!
It’s said our banks will all be shut;
To ease everyday strife, a cut
To queue’s, what's there to lose
Its a blessed contemporary life.
Kids are fatter, the banks are
Richer only our fingers race, less
Cash is more, we know the score
Now there's adversity; in your face.
Money value is way more less
Than just two decades ago;
$10,000 is like $4000 that’s the way things have been made to go!
May be the new bank computers at $100,000 a pop
Will boost the home economy, taking in movies,
Eating in restaurants, as a swap?
No joy or time to window shop our town diversity lies dead,
Yet its ghost is preached of everywhere
In true reality's stead.
